The Curious Case of the Los Angeles Clippers
By Joshua Oleksiak
Hello. My name is Joshua Oleksiak. This is my first ever blog post, so I am very excited to share my opinion on the world of the NBA. The NBA is an amazing and fun sport. However, it can make me laugh sometimes. It can make me question the running of an entire organization. This is a tale of Clippers owner Donald Sterling, and his "attempt" at acquiring Kevin Garnett and Doc Rivers from the Boston Celtics.
Last week, as originally reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, the world found out about a daring trade move that the Clippers organization was about to undertake. They were trying to trade for Doc Rivers, the head coach of the Boston Celtics, and for Kevin Garnett, a future hall of famer at PF. The deal got off to a rough start when the Celtics were willing to back out of the deal when they could not get current back-up point guard for the Los Angeles Clippers Eric Bledsoe. However, with the promise of a 1st round pick, the Celtics stayed in the deal.
The deal was looking very good. The Celtics were going to acquire Deandre Jordan, Caron Butler, and a 1st round pick. The Clippers were going to receive Doc Rivers, Kevin Garnett, and either Courtney Lee or Jason Terry. However, this is when the hilarity starts. Donald Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, did not want to give up a first round pick or Eric Bledsoe to acquire Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett. Sterling was willing to offer a 2nd round pick, but that would not work for the Celtics. The Celtics, mad about Sterling taking the 1st round pick out of the equation, backed out of the deal.
With no Doc Rivers, and no Kevin Garnett, Sterling lost out on a deal that could have remade his franchise. Chris Paul, in my opinion, would stay a Clipper if Garnett and Doc were there with him. It would surround Paul with an amazing frontcourt, with Griffin at PF and Garnett at C. However, because of Sterling's trade debacle, it seems that Chris Paul will flee the Clippers. I do not know where Paul will go, but because of Sterling, he will not stay a Clipper. Great job Donald.

Tinman wanted a heat, the cowardly lion wanted courage, and Donald Sterling wanted a brain. Sterling was recently given his brain, as the Clippers have recently offered a future 1st round pick for Doc Rivers. Congratulations Donald.

The Celtics have agreed in principle to a trade in which the Celtics would acquire a 2015 first round pick and the Clippers will get Doc Rivers. In the future, I could see a Kevin Garnett trade go down.

David Stern has said that he will veto any trade that moves Kevin Garnett to the Los Angeles Clippers, as he believes that would just be splitting the 1st talked about trade. Either Garnett will get cut, or he will have to stay in Boston.
