2013 NBA MOCK DRAFT

We are only days away from the 2013 NBA draft, and the top 10 picks are still a mystery. This is the first year in awhile where we don't even know who the first pick will be. About a month ago many people were saying that Nerlens Noel would be the definite top pick, but now everyones starting to have second thoughts due to his torn ACL that he suffered including the Cavaliers. So far we have heard many different possibilities for who the Cavs will decide to take with the number one pick. A few names we have heard include, Nerlens Noel, Otto Porter, Alex Len, Ben McLemore, and Victor Oladipo. Today im going to give my opinion on what players will go where in the top 10.

                   # 1.    CLEVELAND CAVALIERS -  Victor Oladipo

Many of you may be surprised by this but I believe that Oladipo would be a very good fit on the Cavaliers. Oladipo is a very versatile player and standing at 6"4 can play at small forward which is a big need right now for the Cavaliers. Oladipo can shoot, drive, and he is very athletic, and most importantly Oladipo won the 2013 Big Ten defensive player of the year award. Watching all the great teams in the NBA they all play defense, not to mention Mike brown is a defensive minded coach there for I think he would be a great fit on the Cavaliers. With Dan Gilbert wanting immediate success Nerlens Noel is to risky and I think Oladipo would be a great fit in Cleveland alongside Irving, Waiters, and Thompson. I think this season the Cavs will be back in the playoffs if they draft the right players and sign some good free agents.

# 2. ORLANDO MAGIC - Alex Len

The Orlando Magic are in the post Dwight Howard era. In the past they have always been known to build there franchise around dominant centers even though I am not a big Dwight Howard Shaq was one of the greatest of all time. the Orlando magic are always looking for a center and I think that Alex Len and Glen Davis would be a pretty good duo down low. I think Aaron afflalo, Mo Harkless, and Alex Len could give the Magic hope for the future.

# 3. WASHINGTON WIZARDS - Otto Porter

The Washington Wizards have a pretty good 1, 2 duo with John Wall and Bradley Beal. I think a lot like the Cavs the Wizards need an all-around Small forward who can score and defend. I think that Otto Porter is very versatile and at 6"8 has very good size and can defend very well and score at will. If Otto Porter is availiable I don't think the Wizards will pass up someone with as much potential as Porter. This year its playoffs or bust for the wizards.

#4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS - Nerlens Noel

There is no doubt that charlotte needs help at almost every position. There last two picks Kemba Walker and MKG have been some what disappointing so far. Nerlens Noel has arguably the most potential in the draft class but not to many teams are happy about him not being able to play until December. Another thing is that after his surgery he only weighs 210 LBS. at Kentucky Nerlens Noel played at 220-225 pounds and I think that that's a little lite for an NBA center whose going to be going up against guys like Roy Hibbert, Dwight Howard and Demarcus Cuzins. I just have the feeling he will get dominated. But never the less he was a great shot blocker n post defender and he was tremendously athletic at Kentucky. If he can keep up his defensive play and add weight and learn post offense I think he could be an excellent fit in charlotte. Noel I also think is somebody for that team to build around, and give some hope to the fans. it'll be interesting to see what Noel does and were he is picked. But I think he will end up in charlotte.

#5. PHOENIX SUNS - Ben McLemore

With elite athleticism, a potentially great shot, and okay defense Ben McLemore could be the future of the Phoenix Suns. After Steve Nash who was the franchise player for many years is no longer there and the Suns want to get back to the top of the Western conference  ASAP. With Ben McLemore's being a possible future superstar Phoenix could hit a home run at number 5 if McLemore is still available. With many people comparing him to an athletic version of Ray Allen the suns cant go wrong with McLemore. hopefully he can get himself into better shape though before the season starts.

#6. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS - Anthony Bennett

Anthony Bennett is big and he is strong he 6"7 239 LBS. I think he would be a very good fit on the Pelicans. Bennett doesn't have too many weaknesses, he is very proficient around the rim and he is also a decent jump shooter. he is also very good on 2nd chance opportunities I think he would compliment Anthony Davis nicely and give them too excellent players to build around for the future. I believe Anthony Bennett has a lot of potential.

#7. SACRAMENTO KINGS - Michael Carter-Williams

An interesting fact I heard was that every point guard on Sacramento averaged three times as many shots as assists this past season. MCW averaged more assists and less shots than Trey Burke, that's why he is the better fit for the kings. They need a leader whose going to get everybody involved in the Kings offense.  I think MCW is the guy he isn't selfish he is an assist machine and I think him and Demarcus Cuzins could be a good duo. I think they'll hit a homerun in this draft If the kings can get MCW at seven.

#8. DETROIT PISTONS - C.J. McCollum

The Pistons didn't have any perimeter players averaging over 14 points a game this past season. They also have plans to move Brandon Knight to the shooting guard position and I think that C.J McCollum's ability to shoot the ball and pass the ball efficiently is why he would be a nice fit in Detroit. I think that he has the potential to be a guy who averages 15-20 points and 5-10 assists just give him a year are two. all though this will be a toss up between trey burke and C.J. McCollum I believe that McCollum is the better fit in Detroit.

#9. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES - Kentavious Caldwell- Pope

KCP is a very well rounded shooting guard. I think that his ability to score and his surprising ability to rebound could push the T'wolves over the top and make them playoff bound. If Kevin loves still there next year and derrick Williams can improve his defense to become an elite defender I don't see why they wouldn't make the playoffs I like KCP over Shabazz because Shabazz is too one dimensional. I think KCP has the potential to average 15 points and 5 rebounds a night next year for them and that's what would make him a great fit in Minnesota.

#10. PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS - Cody Zeller

With Cody Zeller averaging 16.8 points and 8.2 rebounds a game I think he would be a great fit on Portland and would give them a very good back court with him and Aldridge. I think Zeller could push Portland over the top and make them playoff bound if he can be as good of a NBA player as he was a college player. This would give Portland another  guy to build around, along with Lilliard and Aldridge and possibly get them to the 8th seed in the western conference. Its going to be tough but Zeller sure can help there cause. I think that if he can average 12 and 10 he would be a huge help to them. I think if they get Zeller at 10 they'll be very happy.

  1. I think the Magic will take a PG, in my opinion Trey Burke. They have Nikola Vucevic at Center, but their only PG is an aging (and wanting to leave) Jameer Nelson.

  2. Yea I was thinking about that too but Orlando's known to build around a center but you could be right!
